Riverlight Return for Phase Three

Designed by world-renowned architects Rogers Stirk Harbour and Partners, Riverlight is set to become an architectural classic of the future. Its thoughtful design is based on its riverside location and an emphasis on natural light.

Riverlight offers an exclusive opportunity to acquire a residential property in this extraordinary new district, allowing you to enjoy the rewards of riverside living in the centre of London.

Riverlight is a family of six pavilions, rising in height, all with a North-South orientation. Their unique design – featuring prow like ends, floor to ceiling glazing and inverted balconies – aims to let in daylight, maximising views of both the river and the surrounding city. The result is a design both practically and aesthetically sophisticated.

The best of London is minutes away

Everything the city has to offer is minutes away – restaurants run by the world's finest chefs from Gordon Ramsay to Alain Ducasse, museums with natural history to modern art, Royal Parks to new Olympic stadia, the culture of the South Bank to the excitement of the shops and theatre of the West End.

Not only surrounded by the city's astonishing variety of architecture, institutio

ns, and attractions, Riverlight is on the riverfront of what will become one of London's most appealing destination districts. An area with a huge variety of reasons to visit – a new cultural, leisure and retail complex, hotels and restaurants with acres of new urban parks.

Good Transport links

Everything is simple to reach: enjoy a short stroll in your exciting new neighbourhood, or a choice of existing and proposed nearby London Underground and train stations, bus routes and cycle paths.

Sea of green

The new landscape surrounding Riverlight has been specifically designed to create a strong identity and a sense of place, but blend into the wider area.

The linear spaces between the buildings are dedicated to private gardens to provide residents with a secure environment to relax in, with landscaped play features at the centre for families to enjoy.

Water features provide beautiful, controlled edges between public and private space, and lighting has been carefully chosen to create dynamic highlights with a welcoming secure night-time environment

Nine Elms Regeneration

Nine Elms is the most centrally located regeneration opportunity in London — a district far larger than Hyde Park situated one mile upstream from the Houses of Parliament on the south bank of the River Thames.

The area's planning framework anticipates up to 16,000 new homes and 25,000 new jobs will be created as this prime site is transformed into a world class residential and business quarter.

Private investor, REO/Treasury Holding's Battersea Power Station scheme and United States Government's, plans for a new embassy complex in nine elms.

Major landowners have moved into developer mode with more applications expected in the first half of 2011. New public parks, a shopping district, commercial centres, cultural attractions, and public squares all part of the masterplan.

Estimate £1bn of new infrastructure will support the area growth with includes two station extension of the Northern Line to link the district to the capital's underground network.

A regeneration Strategy Board has been established to coordinate the vast scale of new investment now envisaged at Nine Elms.

Mayor Boris Johnson leads ground-breaking at Riverlight:
Kick-off time for central London's biggest regeneration programme

Riverlight becomes the first scheme to start construction in the massive Vauxhall Nine Elms Battersea (VNEB) Opportunity Area, with a ground breaking ceremony today (8 September) led by the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson. Other VIPs include the development's architect Lord Richard Rogers, Cllr Ravi Govindia, Leader of Wandsworth Council, Tony Pidgley, Chairman of the Berkeley Group and Sean Ellis, Managing Director of St James, the site's developer.

The groundbreaking at Riverlight will unlock huge financial investment in this area beside Battersea Power Station. VNEB will create 16,000 new homes and 25,000 new jobs over the next decade. The Berkeley Group, which already builds 20% of all new homes in the capital, is investing £300 million in this area.

Riverlight is set to become one of the capital's most desirable riverside locations. Designed by internationally acclaimed architects Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners and located on the bank of the Thames, next to Battersea Power Station, the development is centered around six elegant pavilions. There are external glass elevators and every apartment has at least one balcony, exploiting panoramic views of London and the river.

The Mayor of London Boris Johnson said:

"The design standard on this inaugural site in the regeneration of Nine Elms is absolutely spot on, with vast amounts of public space for everyone in the capital to enjoy sitting happily alongside well designed good quality housing."

Tony Pidgley, Chairman of the Berkeley Group, said:

"Our intention is to create a place that will grace the Thames, drive investment, and deliver new homes and jobs. We want this to be a world-class example of place-making. It will set a benchmark for the whole regeneration area."

The idea of place-making is at the heart of every development undertaken by St James. A new document published today sets out 10 principles of place-making that inform the distinctive approach taken by all of the companies within the Berkeley Group.

Riverlight itself will provide 752 homes including one, two and three bedroom luxury apartments, alongside a hotel, restaurants, shops and a creche set in landscaped gardens. There will be 99 affordable homes each built to Level 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes.

Residents of the apartments will have access to a clubhouse featuring a state of the art gymnasium, swimming pool and holistic spa, a digital entertainment suite with private cinema and virtual golf, a spacious lounge and a library.

Graham Stirk, Project Director, Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners said;

"Riverlight seeks to achieve a contemporary architectural language that creates its own rhythm, articulation and colouration, defining a unique character and relationship to its riverside context."

The site is located less than a mile from Battersea Park and the Houses of Parliament. Vauxhall Undergound and Battersea Park Overground Station are both a short walk away (0.6 miles) and two new proposed Northern Line stations will link Riverlight to the City and London's West End in less than 20 minutes, together with a new footbridge to St George's Square in Pimlico.
