About Our Principal

Henry Butcher Retail and Retail Group Malaysia are led by Mr. Tan Hai Hsin who holds a BBA from National University of Singapore and a MBA in Retail from University of Stirling, United Kingdom. Mr. Tan has spoken in more than 50 public seminars and conferences held in 9 countries including Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Philippine, China, Japan, South Korea, India and Vietnam. In addition he has published more than 70 articles in Retail World Asia magazine and Shopping World Asia magazine since 1999, contributes to the Quarterly Retail Sales Report, the Monthly Retail Sales Report and the Mega Sale Carnival Sales Report on behalf of the Malaysia Retailers Association, and has been quoted more than 500 times in over 90 publications and media, including the Asian Wall Street Journal, International Herald Tribune, Bloomberg, Dow Jones, Reuters, Euromonitor and others.
Mr. Tan is a member of the Urban Land Institute in United States and an active member of the Malaysia Retailers Association. He also gives lectures in the subjects of market research and marketing for a furniture design course organised by Federation of Johor Furniture Manufacturers and Traders Association (JFA).
Mr. Tan enjoys a distinguished career spanning more than 20 years in retail and real estate industry, having been involved in the research, planning and marketing of more than 100 retail centres and commercial developments in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Libya. He had also provided retail research and consultancy services to numerous Singapore and Malaysia chain-store retailers, including Carrefour, Tesco, Metrojaya, Mydin and PERNAMA.
